Tropical Plants Certified for California

Did you know, California requires that plants from Florida be grown 18 inches above the ground or on specialized growing surfaces to prevent the spread of certain pests. This requirement makes it difficult to produce plants for California, but we have a few that meet the requirements.

Aralia 'Fabian'
Polyscias scutellaria 'Fabian' has a columnar shape and glossy, rounded tropical foliage that is dark green with darker undersides. We commonly grow a 5 foot plant in a 10 in. pot, and a 6-7 foot plant in a 14 in. pot.

Polyscias pinnata 'Balfour Lemon Lime' has a columnar shape and glossy, rounded tropical foliage that have a green and lime-green coloring. We commonly grow a 5 foot plant in a 10 in. pot, and a 6-7 foot plant in a 14 in. pot.
Pilea peperomioides
The Pilea has flat round tropical foliage that are all the craze these days. The Pass It On plant or Chinese Money Plant is a small tabletop houseplant that produces pups that can be separated and planted in their own pot. Farm Life grows the Pilea in a 6 inch azalea pot with a plant height of around 10 inches.

This is a unique tropical plant. Dark greenish-black foliage with a curled and crinkly shape make this Aralia an eye catching indoor foliage plant. We offer a 4.5 foot plant in a 10 in. pot.
Aralia 'Ming'
The Ming species of Aralia is one of the most popular interior tropical foliage plants in the nursery. In the right environment and with some attention the Ming will improve your indoor space. Available in a 10 inch pot at around 5 feet and in a 14 inch pot at around 5.5 feet.

Not all Bird of Paradise are the same. Our larger size white birds are planted with more advanced plants for height and younger plants for fullness. The giant green tropical foliage makes the White Bird a houseplant with style. We grow White Birds in 10 to 21 inch pots with a height range of 36 inches to 11 feet.
Rhapis excelsa
Rhapis are commonly called Lady Palms and are a slow growing houseplant capable of living in a low light interior environment. The Rhapis has proven itself for many years as a great indoor plant. Farm Life grows the Rhapis in 10 to 17 inch pots ranging from around 3 feet to 7 feet.
